Post-2008, the banking industry experienced significant reputational damage. The industry was criticised  for its poor practices and behaviours; individual and systemic poor conduct was seen to be at the heart of many of the issues. Significant fines were levied in the following years and indeed continue to this day.  Extensive new regulation was announced and the industry became very siloed and introverted. This gave rise to the role of the Chief Control Officer (CCO).

Academy Partners

Working with market participants and guided by regulatory and industry body input, the Academy aims to help

re-establish the banking sector as an honourable profession, to be known once again for its integrity, ethical behaviour and principled leadership. The Academy’s advisory board has members from eight global banks, and courses are delivered in collaboration with leading training partners.


The Conduct Academy provides best practice conduct training, setting the highest common denominator for good conduct and behaviour for all employees operating within the Financial Markets. Courses are available for Foundation through to Non-Executive Director level.
